Killer's sister suspicious of death inquiry delay

8:06 am on 21 May 2012

The sister of convicted murderer Antonie Dixon believes inquiries into his death in custody have been put on the backburner in the hope it will be forgotten.

Dixon was found dead in 2009 in Auckland Prison while awaiting sentence for murder and for severing the hands of two women with a sword while high on methamphetamine in 2003.

He had what appeared to be self-inflicted injuries.

No inquest has yet been held.

His sister, Carla Dixon, says the delay is pathetic and disgusting.

The Chief Coroner's office says efforts are being made to hold the inquest later this year.
