Incomes rose by 3.5% in the past year in New Zealand.

Statistics New Zealand says median weekly income was $537 in the June quarter, compared to $519 in the June quarter last year.

The agency says the figures cover all people and count income from all sources, not just wages.

Median income for women rose faster than it did for men. But overall, men still earned more than women.

Median hourly pay rose faster than earnings overall, and the number of people receiving investment income fell from 38% to 34%.
