Race Relations Commissioner Joris de Bres to step down

6:12 pm on 10 June 2012

The Race Relations Commissioner Joris de Bres is stepping down after a 10-year term.

Mr de Bres says it has been a rewarding job.

"On the whole it's been a very satisfying job working with a lot of people who are very committed to positive race relations. I've worked with people pretty much across the political spectrum, and I think a lot of practical projects have been achieved by them with my support and encouragement".

The Ministry of Justice is advertising the role on its website and applications close in early July.

Mr de Bres will finish in September.

Mr de Bres previously worked for the Department of Conservation and the Public Service Association.
