The number of people trespassing on rail lines is on the rise.
KiwiRail says there were 36 incidents in the past three-and-half years, 27 of them fatal.
The figures show number of incidents increased from four in 2009 to 15 last year, with six recorded in the year to date.
There have also been 57 collisions at level crossings in the past three years.
