Two more airlines eye NZ market

The number of domestic airlines in New Zealand could grow to five. Jetstar and Singapore-based Tiger Airways say they want to enter the market.

Air New Zealand, Qantas and Pacific Blue already operate in the domestic market.

The Aviation Industry Association says it doubts five domestic airlines would survive in a small aviation market like New Zealand's.

Tiger Airways already operates domestic flights in Australia.

Jetstar, owned by Qantas Airways, already flies to Australia from Christchurch and intends to begin trans-Tasman flights from Auckland on 28 April.
