A study of freight demands on ports in the upper North Island will get underway this month.
Auckland Council has appointed PriceWaterhouseCoopers to carry out the study on behalf of seven councils; Hamilton, Waikato, Tauranga, Bay of Plenty, Auckland, Whangarei and Northland.
The study, which is to be completed by December, will look at current and future freight demands and how they might be met.
