Condition of NZ netball captain to be assessed

8:57 am on 20 October 2008

New Zealand netball captain Julie Seymour will be assessed on Monday to see if she is fit to play two Tests in Australia.

Seymour sat out the third Test against England in Palmerston North with an achilles tendon strain.

Lianna Barrett-Chase will join the squad if the veteran midcourter can't go to Australia in Thursday.

Laura Langman stood in for Seymour on Saturday night when the Silver Ferns beat England 61-22 to take the series, 2-1.

England were beaten in two Tests by Australia before their series in New Zealand. The scores were 42-39 and 44-33 respectively.

Previous trans-Tasman results

Australia has won five of their last seven encounters against New Zealand.

Results in the most recent series were a win to Australia, 53-51, on 17 September and a win by New Zealand, 38-31, on 20 September.

Australia won the world championship in November.
