Detectives investigating the violent death of a Paeroa man say tributes left outside his shop have been vandalised.
Jordan Voudouris' body was found in an alley in the town last week.
Detective senior sergeant Michael Whitehead says flowers, balloons, cards and other items were left outside Mr Voudouris' shop on Saturday night after staff gathered there to mark his birthday.
They are looking into whether the vandalism of the tributes has any connection to the man's death.
Police have also released a statement from Mr Voudouris' children, in which they say their pain is indescribable and they are urging the public to come forward with any information to help the investigation.
