A remand prisoner died in New Plymouth prison last weekend.
Roger Jordan, 44, was on remand for the aggravated robbery of the Vogeltown Pharmacy last week.
He was found in his cell early on Saturday by prison officers during a routine check.
The death is under investigation by the coroner.
