Cakes, sausage sizzles back on the market menu

Home cooks will be able to seel some of their produce at Kapiti Coast markets again, now that the council has eased restrictions.

Earlier this year, the Kapiti Coast District Council told the stallholders they had to prepare their food in registered kitchens.

The council's new rule allows cakes, preserves and other low risk foods to be sold, subject to kitchen inspections and provided stallholders complete a food hygiene course.

Higher risk foods including meats can not be sold, but sausage sizzles are allowed.
