Southland tour bus crash victim stable

An 8-year-old boy injured in a bus crash in Southland on Thursday remains in intensive care at Dunedin Hospital but is in a stable condition.

A tour bus carrying 30 people - many of them Chinese-speaking tourists - crashed on the Te Anau to Mossburn Road just before 9am, injuring 15 people.

Police say the boy has abdominal injuries, but has his mother is with him and they're receiving support from Victim Support and the hospital.

Two other bus crash victims are in Invercargill Hospital - a man with rib fractures and a woman with a fractured wrist.

Road conditions in the area were treacherous at the time of the crash.
