New regulations for passenger vehicles

8:07 am on 8 July 2012

Associate Transport Minister Simon Bridges says new regulations being introduced for passenger service vehicles will improve safety.

The changes include giving the driver a clearer view of passengers and requiring inspections for power-operated doors so that passengers won't be trapped or injured.

Mr Bridges says the changes also remove unnecessary regulation and ensure New Zealand requirements are in line with those overseas.

The changes will come into effect in October.
