Pedestrian death charges dropped

7:04 am on 9 July 2012

Police have dropped charges against a man over the death of a pedestrian on a rural road south of Hamilton.

The body of William Hoskins, 26, from Hastings, was found on Maychurch Road, along State Highway 1B, in January.

He had been attending a wedding nearby.

Police say an extensive investigation did not yield enough evidence to charge anyone with the death.

They say a man, 47, was charged with careless driving causing death, but that charge has now been dropped.
