A pedestrian remain in a serious condition in Wellington Hospital after being struck by a bus in the central city.
A passenger on the bus says he heard a large bang and felt a jolt before the bus driver stopped, on the corner of Willis and Mercer Streets.
Graham McCready told Radio New Zealand News the manstepped in front of the bus.
Mr McCready says he felt the man go under both wheels and saw several passers-by try to pull him off the road.
He says the bus driver told passengers to get off immediately while he called for help, and the driver and several passengers looked shaken.
