A motorcyclist has died after apparently falling from his bike on State Highway 1 in North Waikato.
Police in Waikato say early indications are that the man, who was in his 70s, encountered difficulties on his BMW motorbike and fell off, suffering fatal injuries.
The incident happened on the south bound lane at the start of the Waikato Expressway, near Rangiriri Tavern, about 8am on Friday.
Police had said the death followed a collision with a car but do not now believe any other vehicle was involved in the in crash.
They are appealing for witnesses.
