Kahui drops challenge to coroner's findings

6:12 pm on 23 July 2012

A Coroner has amended his findings into the death of the Kahui twins, and as a result, legal action has now being dropped.

Three-month-old Chris and Cru died of head injuries in 2006.

Their father Chris Kahui's lawyer applied in December for a judicial review of the findings, after Mr Kahui received a preliminary copy.

The legal system provides for interested parties to respond to such reports before they're released, if they contain criticism.

At the High Court in Auckland on Monday, it was revealed Mr Kahui had responded, and Coroner Gary Evan's findings had been amended.

Mr Kahui's lawyer, Rodney Harrison QC, says his client is no longer challenging the findings.

Mr Kahui was found not guilty of their deaths. No one else has been charged.

The coroner's findings are expected to be made public on Wednesday.
