The South Island has been rocked by two earthquakes on Thursday evening.
A quake shook Southland at 7.30pm.
The 4.8 magnitude quake was 5km deep and centred 80 km south-west of Tuatapere.
And a sharp quake struck Christchurch at about 8pm.
The magnitude 3.7 quake was centred 10 km southeast of Christchurch and was 9 km deep.
