Petrol prices up

11:21 am on 15 August 2012

The price of petrol has risen again to its highest level since March this year.

Z Energy and BP both increased their prices on Tuesday by 3 cents per litre to 219.9c for 91 octane fuel.

Caltex increased its price Tuesday evening to match.

The price for 98 octane fuel has also increased, to 227.9c.

Diesel remains unchanged.

Gull says it will not be increasing its fuel prices.

The Automobile Association says the increases are being blamed on rising commodity prices and refinery shutdowns restricting global supply.

Petrol prices reached a record in May last year when motorists paid 221.9c for 91 octane.
