A woman has died after being struck by a train near Dannevirke.
Police say the 52-year-old woman was lying on the railway line near Allardice Street when the train passed, about 8pm on Tuesday.
She had recently moved to the Dannevirke area and police are still trying to contact her next of kin.
A post mortem will be carried out. Police say it appears the death is not suspicious.
