A South Auckland preschool near where a police car crashed killing a woman on Wednesday says it's not the first time a person has been killed on the stretch of road.
The 40-year-old woman died after the car in which she was a passenger was hit on Ormiston Rd by a police car on its way to an emergency call-out.
Ana Talakai of the Otara Tongan Methodist Parish's preschool says an elderly church member was killed crossing the road several years ago.
Ms Talakai wants the speed limit lowered from 60km/h to 40 and says the preschool complained to the council some time ago.
An Auckland councillor, Arthur Anae, says he is not aware of the school's request to change the speed limit but would support any change to make the road safer.
