Auckland bus drivers now working to rule

12:00 pm on 24 August 2012

Auckland bus commuters might notice some disruption to their daily commute as bus drivers take light industrial action.

The unions representing hundreds of bus drivers have been negotiating a pay offer with bus operator NZ Bus for the past months.

On Thursday the workers began work-to-rule action - which the First Union says will mean drivers take the breaks they need and do the checks required between routes.

Union spokesperson Karl Andersen says that means some buses might run late.

The action is to run indefinitely.
