A Wellington city councillor has lashed out at a panel investigating super city options for the region, labelling it arrogant.
The four-person panel, chaired by former prime minister Sir Geoffrey Palmer, has been funded by the regional and Porirua councils, to consult with the public on local government reform.
Helene Ritchie says the panel has a predetermined view of one council for the region.
But deputy mayor Ian McKinnon says he has confidence in the panel's independence.
He says all the region's councils are doing their own research and they should all be prepared to listen to the results.
