The principal of Wainuiomata High School has confirmed that a teacher has resigned, following an investigation into allegations he had a relationship with a 17-year-old student.
Principal Martin Isberg says the investigation followed rumours about a relationship between the 38-year-old teacher and girl.
Mr Isberg says the teacher resigned when concerns about the relationship were raised during a meeting.
The student has also left the school.
The Teachers' Council is investigating and Mr Isberg says the matter is now out of his hands.
