Police have identified the body of a teenage boy found on the banks of the Hutt River near Wellington on Wednesday.
He was Michael Lafou, 16, of Naenae.
Detective Senior Sergeant Dave Thornton says more tests will be done to find out the cause of death, which he says is not suspicious.
Police are reviewing video footage of the area and are talking to witnesses and the victim's family.
Mr Thornton is appealing for anyone who saw Michael Lafou on Tuesday evening to contact police.
