A wood processor has been fined for using an unsafe saw for more than seven years.

Tangiwai-based Winstone Pulp International appeared in the Palmerston North District Court on Friday.

The company was charged under the Health and Safety in Employment Act for having no effective guard on the saw and fined $29,000.

The Business, Innovation and Employment Ministry says unguarded machinery is dangerous and it provides guidance about guarding which is easily available.
