Memorial service for outdoor instructor

A memorial service is being held for the outdoor instructor missing since he jumped into the sea off New Plymouth to help students swept into the water.

Bryce Jourdain, 42, is presumed to have drowned when he and students went into the sea off New Plymouth's Paritutu Rock during a climbing trip on 8 August .

His body and that of Spotswood College student Stephen Kahukaka-Gede have never been found.

The body of Brazilian exchange student Felipe Melo was recovered 10 days after the accident.

Mr Jourdain's memorial service was being held at New Plymouth Boys' High School at 1.30pm on Saturday.

Friends and family are invited to Topec, the outdoor centre where he worked, from 10am-2pm on Sunday.
