Rolleston property sales 'not far off booming'

3:00 pm on 1 October 2012

A Canterbury developer says property sales at Rolleston are not far off booming and pre-sales on its new subdivision have far outweighed expectations.

Hughes Developments has bought 80 hectares in the township south-west of Christchurch to create just over 1000 sections.

It says some interest in the Faringdon subdivision has come from Christchurch people with red-zoned properties but other buyers are from south of the city.

A spokesperson, Bruce Harvey, says while it's not yet a property boom, the company has already presold 80 sections out of the first 140 - a level of sales not far off the boom times between 2003 and 2006.

Mr Harvey says buyers can begin building on the land in February.
