Emergency patients still waiting

Most district health boards still fail to meet their target times for seeing most emergency patients.

Ministry of Health figures for the three months to September show that hospitals dealt with acute cases straightaway.

But Health Minister Tony Ryall says waiting times for patients whose lives may be under imminent threat are the worst they have been in four years.

He says only two-thirds of such patients were seen within the recommended 10 minutes.
