Three people were arrested after a high-speed chase north of Wellington after a stolen car failed to stop in Stokes Valley in the Hutt on Thursday.
Police pursued the vehicle at speeds of up to 140km/h on State Highway 2 into Wellington about 2am.
The driver stopped the car at Ngauranga Gorge and was pursued on foot by a police dog unit before being caught.
Two of the car's occupants were arrested at the scene.
