Union's port workers want certainty

5:31 am on 6 October 2012

Ports of Auckland workers caught in a long running industrial dispute there say they want some certainty for their future.

About 60 Maritime Union members took part in a rally this afternoon, more than a year since contract negations with the port company first broke down.

One of the members, Dave Phillips, said the dispute has been tiresome.

He said there's much uncertainty and they want to reach an agreement soon to secure their future.

Ports of Auckland says it is focused on reaching a flexible collective agreement.

The union and the port company will go back to facilitation later this month.
