Police have arrested a man accused of cutting another man's throat in an unprovoked attack in Nelson.
Steven Pengelly, 39, was arrested in Picton on Sunday afternoon following the incident in Washington Valley Road on Friday afternoon.
Detective Sergeant Mark Kaveneysays he will appear in Nelson District Court on Monday morning charged with attempted murder.
The victim is in a stable condition in Nelson hospital.
