A 5.5-magnitude earthquake has been felt across large areas of the North Island.
The earthquake occurred at 12.42pm on Wednesday and was centered 10 km north-east of Taupo, at a depth of 110 km, Geonet said.
A second quake, registering 3.5, occurred at 1.27pm at a depth of 27 km, centred 15 km south-west of Ruatoria.
