A date has been set for former Napier City councillor Peter Beckett's trial in Canada on a murder charge.
Mr Beckett is charged with murdering his wife, Laura Letts-Beckett, in the Canadian province of British Columbia in 2010. The pair were fishing when Mrs Letts-Beckett drowned.
The trial is scheduled to start on 21 May 2013, at the Salmon Arm Provincial Court, near Vancouver.
Mr Beckett was on the Napier City Council for one term from 1998 to 2001, before moving to Canada.
