Eight men have been arrested on drug charges after police raids on several Auckland properties.

Police say they seized nearly $500,000 in cash, 4kg of methamphetamine, 1kg of gold and five vehicles after several raids on properties in the region on Thursday.

Police say the arrests are part of an investigation, Operation Shiloh, that started in December 2011 when a clandestine methamphetamine laboratory exploded in the suburb of Glendene.

Acting Detective Inspector Stan Brown says the eight men face charges relating to the manufacture and supply of methamphetamine.

Two of the men were arrested at Sylvia Park in Mount Wellington on Thursday. The Armed Offenders squad was later involved in the arrests of a further four men on Dominion Road.
