Christchurch Boys High School insists the resignation of principal Trevor McIntyre has nothing to do with criticisms made by the Education Review Office.
Mr McIntyre has resigned to take up a job advising the Ministry of Education on the closure or merging of 31 schools in Christchurch.
It's less than a month since an ERO report that said management issues, including a lack of communication, continue to be a problem at Christchurch Boys three years after being first identified.
However, school board of trustees chair Mark Jordan says Mr McIntyre's decision to quit has nothing to do with that - it's simply a case of his moving on to something bigger and better.
