Getting support for abused boys not easy - school

7:12 pm on 16 November 2012

The commissioner now running a Far North school where a teacher abused young boys says it has been challenging getting support for all of them.

Pamapuria School former deputy principal James Parker, 37, appeared in Kaitaia District Court on Thursday on 74 charges of sexual assault and indecency betweem 1999 and this year.

Parker, 37, admitted 49 charges in August and is yet to plead to a further 25, which were lodged this week.

Pamapuria School commissioner Larry Forbes says some families have not taken up the support on offer from the school.

He says private counselling has been arranged for families who don't want to go through the normal support organisations.
