The brothers of an Auckland woman presumed dead say they will continue to hope against hope that she is alive.

Police are treating the disappearance of Bin Chen, known as Cissy, as a homicide. She was last seen about 5.30pm on 5 November.

Police said on Saturday they have received information that the 44-year-old had not gone for her daily walk at Long Bay as they had previously been told.

Her brothers, Philip and Peter Chen, told reporters that in their culture, it is not right to accept that she is dead until they find her body.

"Cissy was still in her prime to enjoy her life and it's such a hard fact that she's disappeared or missing. This is too much for us to accept."

Police say a man who was being spoken to on Friday has not been charged with anything.
