Police have arrested a 21-year-old man in relation to an apparently random stabbing attack in Dunedin.
A 26-year-old woman was at her inner city Duncan Street home with her three-year-old daughter when she was stabbed in the face and neck by a man after answering a knock at her front door on Tuesday.
Police say the woman did not know the attacker and she has undergone surgery at Dunedin Hospital.
Police say a man will appear in the Dunedin District Court on Tuesday and will be charged with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
They say more serious charges are likely.
