The wreckage of a helicopter believed to be several years old has been found in Fiordland.
It was discovered by another helicopter on Wednesday in the Hollyford Valley area.
A police search and rescue team will examine the wreckage tomorrow.
Senior Sergeant Dave Raynes says there have been five missing helicopters in Fiordland in the last two decades and this discovery is thought to be that of a helicopter that went missing several years ago.
He says the police have a fair idea of who was in the helicopter and hopes to release that information on Thursday.
