An 82-year-old man who failed to return from a caving expedition near Punakaiki on the West Coast has been found and taken to hospital.
The man was due to return on Wednesday night from the Kubla Khan cave.
His wife raised the alarm on Thursday morning and he was found later that morning 50 metres underground.
He has hypothermia.
