A painting by Ralph Hotere has been sold at auction for $183,000.
Vive Aramoana celebrates a successful campaign to stop an aluminium smelter being built at Aramoana on the Otago Peninsula.
It was sold to an unnamed bidder at the International Art Centre in Auckland on Thursday night.
Thirteen Hotere paintings were offered for sale and were part of a collection that formerly hung at Carey's Bay Hotel in Port Chalmers.
Hotere, who still lives in Carey's Bay, was appointed to the Order of New Zealand in 2011.
