A Dunedin man has been charged with attempted murder after a stabbing incident earlier this week.
A woman, 26, who cannot be named, was at her home in Duncan Street with her daughter on Monday when she was stabbed in the face and neck after answering a knock at the front door.
A man, 21, unemployed, appeared in Dunedin District Court on Friday.
He was charged with four offences, including attempted murder, grievously harming the woman with a pair of scissors and intended rape.
Police have said the woman did not know her attacker.
The accused's name was suppressed by the judge until his next court appearance on 7 December.
