A body discovered in a Bay of Plenty forest is that of a missing Rotorua woman, police have confirmed.
Michelle Hoffman-Tamm, 51, disappeared after she left her home on a bicycle to visit friends on 7 November.
Officers investigating her disappearance upgraded their investigation to a homicide after a 44-year-old woman appeared in the Rotorua District Court on Friday charged with assault. She has been remanded in custody.
Hours later, police found a body in forest just off State Highway 38 near the town of Murupara.
Ms Hoffman-Tamm's bicycle was found on Thursday near some shops some distance away from her home.
A formal identification was carried out on Saturday and police will examine a Holland Street property over the next few days.
