Otaki women attacked by dogs

12:53 pm on 29 November 2012

Two women are in a stable condition in Palmerston North hospital after an attack by two dogs in Otaki on Wednesday.

Police say they understand the first woman attacked was known to the dogs, but wasn't the owner.

She has extensive bites to her arms and legs. Another woman who came to her aid has a serious bite to her upper leg.

Both dogs, which are described as pit bull types, have been seized by council animal control officers.

Police say they are working to establish what happened and what legal action might be taken against the owner.
