The Fire Service believes a large scrub blaze in Dome Valley near Warkworth may have been deliberately lit.
Two helicopters and 14 fire trucks were called to the large fire, which was nearly the size of a rugby field, at mid-afternon on Saturday.
The fire service says the blaze was contained, and is being treated as suspicious.
