Dozens of flights were delayed or cancelled in and out of Wellington, New Plymouth, Palmerston North and Hokitika airports on Sunday because of low cloud.
The cloud set in, in Wellington at about 2pm and started to lift about 5.30pm.
Air New Zealand says 30 flights were cancelled in or out of Wellington.
The airline say it's now trying to get passengers on late flights.
