The new chairperson of Taranaki's rescue helicopter trust is vowing the region will not lose its vital service.

Bryce Barnet says major sponsors are back on board, with negotiations progressing favourably, and two pilots have replaced the two who left amid uncertainty about the service's future.

Four months ago the trust said it needed $400,000 by Christmas to ensure its survival.

Mr Barnet says the service will continue as usual while a new business plan is put in place.
