The police dive squad is searching for a man who disappeared while swimming at a lake near Auckland's west coast on Sunday.
They say Grant Robert Faulkner went for an early morning swim in Lake Wainamu at Bethells Beach.
Police say family and friends called them when they couldn't see the 50-year-old in the water.
They say Mr Faulkner's towel and keys remained untouched and there was nothing to indicate he returned to his vehicle.
Police are asking people to stay clear of the lake and the surrounding area until the search is completed which, they say, could take several days.
