Police in Ashburton are treating the suspicious death of a local woman on Saturday as a homicide.
The body of Sina Nerisa Solomona, 22, was found at a house on Cass Street, the same street as the police station, in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Detective senior sergeant John Rae says a weapon has been found at the property, but wouldn't say what it is or whether it was used to attack the woman.
A post-mortem was carried out late on Monday afternoon but no information is available.
Police want anyone who has information about the incident to come forward.
