NZ sending more money to Samoa

New Zealand is provide more financial assistance to Samoa in the aftermath of Cyclone Evan.

Foreign Affairs Minister Murray McCully said another $550,000 will be made immediately available to support relief and early recovery efforts, taking New Zealand's total help to $600,000.

Five additional New Zealand Red Cross workers will travel to Samoa to support Red Cross efforts there and an RNZAF Orion is continuing to assist the Samoan government with searches and aerial surveillance.

Mr McCully said New Zealand will consider further requests for assistance from Samoa as it undertakes longer-term reconstruction.
